Junior hurling semi-final -Randals v Bantry Blues - 30/08/2019

The junior B hurling championship semi-final, between Randals and Bantry Blues was played at Castletown Kinneigh on Saturday evening last, 24th August.

It was a tough, hard fought game, but scores were hard to come by and almost  all of them came from placed balls.

Randals started well and were into the attack early on, with Conor O'Donovan getting the opening score in the first minute and Johnny Collins sending over from a free a few minutes later.

However it was all Bantry for the next ten minutes. They were deprived of a goal opportunity  by an alert Patrick Lynch, and of more scores by good defensive play, but got four points in succession to lead, 0-4 to 0-2, at the end of the first quarter.

It was score for score for the remainder of the half. Eoin O'Donovan, who gave an exhibition of free taking from all angles over the hour, scored three points and Bantry replied in like manner including with one from a penalty.

It was 0-7 to 0-5 at half time.

Two early points in the second half, again from Eoin O'Donovan, and the scores were level,

The crucial score, the only goal of the game, saw Bantry regain the lead in the thirty seventh minute. Three more points, Eoin O'Donovan  on target again in the following minutes, and it was all level again, 0-10 to 1-7.

However it was Bantry who finished the stronger, and the goal that Randals were seeking did not come. Five points from Bantry came in last quarter, with Eon O'Donovan getting one back in the closing minutes.

It was:  Bantry Blues  1-12  Randal Og  0-11 at full time.
