Junior football championship - Randals v Grange - 03/07/2019

There was disappointment in Inniscarra, on Saturday evening last, as Randals made an exit from the county junior B football championship, losing to Grange in  the quarter-final.

The winners, held the advantage in the early stages and had built up a lead of 1-3 to 0-0 by the  fourteenth minute.

Randals rallied going into the second quarter. Sam Kingston Kingston got a point, Eoin O'Sullivan added another and Sam Kingston, again, from long range made it 1-3 to 0-3.

Grange replied with a point from a free, but Conor O'Neill, with a great point from play and another from a free, narrowed the margin again.

However disaster struck coming up to half time, as Grange got two goals within two minutes and were 3-6 to 0-5 ahead at the break.

Randals gave as good as they got for most of the second half. Cathal Duggan got an early point. Donncha Collins got through for for a goal, then added a point two minutes later and Conor O'Neill, with a point from a free, made it 3-6 to 1-8, by the end of the third quarter.

Grange got a point from a free, but Conor O'Neill and Eoin O'Sullivan were back for two more and there were only three points in it with about ten minutes to go.

Randals had a few scoring chances, which did not come off, and it was Grange who got the scores in the closing minutes,

sending over three more points.

It was :  Grange 3-10  Randal Og 1-10, at full time.
