Huge Thanks’ must go to all the coaches that are helping out with the Sam Maguire club they are giving the children an identity with the Randal OG club, this also goes to all the volunteers who help out with the Friday night training and to all the coaches with our own under 21 and adult teams hopefully we will get back training soon this year on all fronts.
In the year just passed we were in very different times that none of us could have foreseen we managed to start the year as normal and then in March Normal went out the window we were all in lock down but considering all that was happening we still had a successful season. Carbery junior B hurling champions, Finalists in the Carbery Junior B football Championship and won our first game in the Carbery Under 21 B football championship things are moving in the right direction for the club. I do hope that we can continue the Under 21 competition to prove to people that we do deserve to be in this grade.
We rowed in behind the Ballinacarriga and Lisbealad development association to help them create a walkway around the grounds it has been a huge success so far with people of all ages using the facility. We also joined forces to have a very successful fund raiser for Cancer Connect and The Jack and Jill foundation when we lit up the Castle the two charities were delighted with the funds donated.
We also need to remember all our members who have gone to their final resting place in the past year may you all Rest in Peace.
This is the time of year that I always look for anyone who would have an interest in becoming a referee for the club to please come forward I can assure you we will be behind you all the way helping out, it would be even better if two people could go forward as referees to support each other, we can’t keep depending on Joe Crowley to fulfil the position
As you will be aware the hall and some of the grounds are being used by the HSE for a swab centre, the facility is being utilized by all of the people of West Cork and I for one am very proud to say that we as a community are providing our grounds for this vital service.
I don’t know what this year will bring and if we will have any games for our players but I do know that whatever is thrown at us we will overcome it together as a club and community. I know it’s early February but I would like to wish everyone
A VERY HAPPY and SAFE NEW YEAR.
