County hurling championship - Randals v Rathpeacon - 2019-05-01 16:43:00

We have enjoyed the hospitality of the Rathpeacon club in county championship games a few times in recent years, but this was the first time to line out against a Rathpeacon team.

It was the first round of the junior B hurling championship, played at Bandon on Saturday evening last, 27th April, and going on Rathpeacon's performances of last year, a tough encounter appeared to be on the cards.  However it did not work out like that.

Randals, who had the advantage of the wind in the first half, although it was not a deciding factor and it died away as the game went on, went into an early three point lead. Rathpeacon cut this back to one, after about eight minutes, but Randals began to take control, winning most of the possession and availing of almost all of the scoring chances created, to lead  1-8 to 0-4 at half time.

This pattern continued for most of a one sided second half.

How the scores came:

Seadhna Crowley opened the scoring, with a point, after two miutes and Sam Kingston added another a minute later.

Conor O'Donovan made it three up, with four minutes gone.

Rathpeacon got two  points from  frees  - 0-3 to 0-2 after eight minutes.

Kevin Dullea and Seadhna Crowley, from a free before Cathal Duggan, taking a pass from Seamus Crowley, got through for the first and only goal of the game. to make it 1-5 to 0-2 coming up to the quarter hour mark.

Seadhna Crowley was again on target to make it 1-6 to 0-2 and aminute later, Conor O' Donovan sent over, from a difficult angle.

Rathpeacon got a point from a free - nineteen minutes gone.

The scoring rate slowed, coming up to half time - Cathal Duggan got another point after twenty three minutes,

Rathpeacon  got the last score of the half, a point from a free around the thirtieth minute - 1-8 to 0 -4.

First score in the second half came from Patrick Crowley who gained possession around mid field and raced through to send over a point early on and with thirty eight minute gone, Seamus Crowley scores a point from close to the sideline.

Seadhna Crowley with three points in succession, two from frees, over the next six minutes makes it 1-13 to 0-4.

Rathpeacon got another point from a free as the game entered the final quarter.

Randals continued to stretch the lead going into the closing minutes with points from Cathal Duggan, Seadhna Crowley from a free, Stephen Crowley and Donncha Collins.

Rathpeacon got their last score, a point from a free with about two minutes to go.

Seadhna got a point and Donncha Collins had the last word with another point close to the final whistle.

Full time score was:  Randal Og  1-19  Rathpeacon  0-6.
