It was Randals versus Clonakilty in football league game at Ahamilla on Saturday evening.
A well contested game for the most part, again played in ideal conditions, but Randals held the advantage from the start, with early scores, led well at half-time and could have been further ahead at the end.
The first score came in the first minute with Sam Kingston putting Randals a point ahead. Clon got the equaliser on seven minutes, but the first goal of the game, scored by Seadhna Crowley, restored the lead a minute later. Clon got a point from a free. An outstanding score by Barry O'Driscoll made it 1-2 to 0-2 at the end of the opening quarter.
Clon narrowed the margin to a minimum with two points from frees, but four more, in quick succession, came from Shane Patterson, Seadhna Crowley, Donncha Collins and Sam Kingston, the latter from a free,
Clon got a point back. Seadhna Crowley sent over from a free and Seamus Crowley added another and it was 1-8 to 0-5 after a great first half.
The second goal of the game was scored by Clonakilty, within a few minutes of resumption, but Randals responded quickly and Dan Hayes , Eoin O'Sullivan, Dan Hayes, again, and Seadhna Crowley increased the margin again.
There was a scoreless ten or twelve minutes period before Clon rallied and added on three late points, but Dan Hayes had the last word, close to the final whistle.
