Well done to our under 21 footballers on a great win against Carbery Rangers in the opening round of the champioship.
Played at Rath, in ideal conditions, on Saturday evening last, 23rd March, this was a quarter-final as well as a first round game.
There was plenty of attacking football from the start, but scores were slow in coming in the opening quarter, with some near misses and the goal posts intervening on a few occasions.
The opening score, a point, came when Daire Hayes sent over from a well taken 'forty five' after thirteen minutes. Seamus Crowley was in to punch over a minute later.
The Rosscarbery boys replied, with three points in succession, to go ahead after twenty two minutes.
Ronan Daly got the equaliser, Ross regained the lead, but Seamus Crowley was again on target to make it 0-4 to 0-4 at the break,
The game changed dramatically early in the second half. Two goals inside a minute put Randals into a lead which was held for the remainder of the game.
The first goal was finished off by Donncha Collins, after six minutes. Eoin O'Sullivan followed up with goal number two and Conor O'Neill added a point to make it 2-5 to 0-4 on the eight minute mark.
Ross got a point back, but Randals were now on top, with Eoin O'Sullivan sending over a free from an impossible angle, getting another point from play and Conor O'Neill making it 2-8 to 0-5. There were twenty minutes gone.
Ross rallied again and scored three more points in the closing stages, but the two goal margin remained.
Conor O' Neill pointed from a free close to the final whistle and it was: Randal Og 2-9 Carbery Rangers 0-8 at full time.
