Junior hurling league Newcestown v Randal Og - 2017-04-30 17:53:00

Randals were away to Newcestown in the first game of the junior hurling league, division two, played on Saturday evening, April 29th. It was a blustery overcast evening but the rain stayed away.

The home side, who had wind advantage in the first half, got an early goal, scored in the first minute, and they added another five minutes later.

Kevin Dullea, with a well taken point, opened Randals' account on eleven minutes but Newcestown stretched their lead with a series of points over the next ten to twelve minutes. Two frees scored by Johnny Collins coming up to half time left it 2-6 to 0-3 at the break.

It was a low scoring, evenly contested, second half as Randals  stood up well to their more experienced opponents. Newcestown scored a point in the sixth minute and got through for a third goal two minutes later. Two points from Johnny Collins came midway through the half and three more were scored late in the game to leave it:  Newcestown  3-9  Randal Og 0-8.
