Division 3 of the Junior Football League got off the ground yesterday evening , Tuesday March 28 . The opening game, Gabriel Rangers at home to Randal Og was played at Ballydehob under lights in murky drizzly conditions.

Lining out for Randals were : Fergal Kelly, Kieran O'Brien, Aidan O'Brien, Conor O'Donovan, Barry Lynch, Colum McSweeney, Ian Crowley, Brian Dullea, Shane Patterson, Barry O'Driscoll, Patrick Lynch, Owen O'Sullivan, Aidan O'Sullivan, Gerard Lynch, Ronan Daly.

Gabriels got on the scoreboard quickly with a point in the first minute,  They added three more and came close to getting a goal before Owen O'Sullivan pointed a free with fourteen minutes gone. Two more points stretched the Gabriels' lead and they were again deprived of a goal this time with an outstanding  save by Fergal Kelly.

Owen O' Sullivan sent over a second point, from a penalty, in the twenty fifth minute but Gabriels i

increased their lead again with three more before half time.  It was 0-9 to 0-7 at the break.

J J Hurley and Gearoid White came on at the start of the second half. Seadhna Crowley also came on.

Gearoid quickly made his presence felt, as he set up a goal, expertly finished off by Barry O'Discoll in the first minute. However the status quo was restored as Gabriels got the goal back within three minutes.

Eight minutes without a score, as Randals came more and more into the game but it was Gabriels again who got the next one, a point,  with nineteen minutes remaining.

The game was about to change dramataically. Owen O'Sullivan pointed again from a free on fifteen minutes. Shortly after Gearoid White, who had been twice unlucky with earlier efforts, made a great run through the Gabriels defence to score - goal number one of three.

The other two came in quick succession in the closing five minute of ordinary time and the lead changed hands for the first time in the game. Gearoid finished off  a spectacular display with a point in the twenty seventh minute and Barry O'Driscoll with another from a free made it Randal Og 4-5    Gabriel Rangers 1  1-11 at full time.
