Our football league final, against Goleen, was played at Church Cross on Saturday evening, 5th November. The skies were clear and there was bright sunshine for most of the match but with a stiff easterly wind which had some affect on scoring efforts early on.
Randals started well and went into the lead with a pointed free from Brian Dullea after two minutes.
Two points from Goleen saw them go in front by the sixth minute but it was all square again with a second Brian Dullea free following a close in foul.
Goleen quickly regained the lead and then followed with a crucial score, a goal in the tenth minute. We had a few chances from but against a swirling wind no score was registered, while at the other end, Goleen sent over five points between the eleventh and twenty sixth minutes.
Shane Patterson scored Randals' third point coming up to half time.
it was 1-9 to 0-3 at half time.
The scoring rate dropped somewhat in the third quarter. Randals, now with wind advantage, created some chances and came close to finding the net but apart from a pointed free, by Brian Dullea in the eighth minute, none of these yielded scores. Goleen stretched their to twelve points by the fifteen minute mark. Stephen O'Farrell had Randals' last score a point after twenty six minutes.
At full time it was: Goleen 1-15 Randal Og 0-5.
