Football league - Randals v Argideen Rangers - 19/02/2019

The footballers travelled to Timoleague, on Sunday evening last, for away league game against Argideen Rangers.

Randals, who had the advantage  of the wind on the first half, got off to a good start.  Within seconds of the throw in, the ball broke across the Argideen square where it encountered the boot of Daire Hayes and ended up in the net.

A scoreless period of about ten minutes followed before Argideen got two points in quick succession, and then got through for their first goal around the thirteenth minute.

Eoin O'Sullivan sent over from a free on fifteen minutes.  Donncha Collins, gaining position around the half back line, set off on a spectacular solo run and sent the ball into Conor O'Neill who made it 1-2 all.

Argideen regained the lead, but Brendan O'Mahony got another equaliser. Two more points from Argideen, in what was a low scoring second quarter put them ahead by 1-5 to 1-3 at the break.

They stretched their lead with another goal, early in the second half.

Donncha Collins replied with a point, but Argideen's third goal came shortly after to make 3-5 to 1-4.

Randals, despite that, and playing against a strong wind, were still in contention and it was point for point over the following minutes.

Eoin O' Sullivan got a point after twelve minutes of the half. Barry O'Driscoll sent over from a free on fourteen minutes.  Conor O'Neill added another and Eoin O'Sullivan, again from a free, made it 3-7 to 1-8 with about ten minutes to go, Argideen having got two points in between.
