Hurling championship quarter- final - 09/10/2017

The journey to Glanworth on Saturday evening for the county junior hurling championship quarter-final against Newmarket ended in disappointment.

The opening few minutes gave no indication of the eventual outcome as Randals were first to score - a point from Seadhna Crowlwy shortly after the throw in. Newmarket got an equaliser but Sam Kingston made it 0-2 to 0-1 with three minutes gone.

However Newmarket, who had the advantage of the wind in the first half, proceeded to take full advantage of it, sending over seven points without reply in the next fifteen minutes.

Patrick Crowley got a point around the nineteen minute mark, but Newmarket struck home the first goal of the game shortly after. They added two more points to their total before a point from a penalty by Seadhna Crowley left it 1-10 to 0-4 at half time.

Despite the wind advantage in the second half Randals still found scores difficult to come by.  Johnny Collins got a point in the second minute and Seadhna Crowley got another from a free on seven minutes, but in between Newmarket added on four more to go eleven ahead.

Hopes were raised when Seadhna Crowley found the net early in the final quarter, but almost ten scoreless minutes followed and the only other score was a goal from another penalty taken by Patrick Crowley on twenty seven minutes.

It was:  Newmarket  1-13  Randal Og  2-6 at full time.
