In the second round of the junior hurling championship it was Randals v Diarmuid O Mathunas
at Enniskeane on Saturday evening last, 2nd July.
A week ago in the football championship, goals were decisive. They were again on Saturday evening, but unfortunately we were on the receiving end on this occasion.
Mathunas had the first score, a point after two minutes. Seadhna Crowley, from a free, got the equaliser a minute later. A series of Mathunas points followed and it was 0-5 to 0-1 on the ten minute mark.
Seadhna Crowley scored again in the eleventh minute and points were exchanged with Johnny Collins getting one before Mathunas struck for their first goal with twenty minutes gone.
Johnny Collins, Shane Patterson and Conor O' Donovan were scorers coming up to half time which saw Mathunas ahead by 1-8 to 0-7.
It was point for point for most of the second half. Scores came from Patrick Crowley, Seadhna Crowley, Conor O'Donovan, Seadhna, again, and Brian Dullea and it was1-12 to 0-12 with about five minutes left. It was then that Mathunas got through for their second goal to put the game beyond reach.
Patrick Crowley had the last word, a point in the twenty eighth minute.
